Safe Sport News
- Canadian arbitrator Carol Roberts has ordered that the six-year suspension of Olympic ice dancer Nikolaj Sorensen for “sexual maltreatment” be overturned on jurisdictional grounds. USA Today’s Christine Brennan reported that the survivor plans to appeal.
Retirements
- Three-time World champion and Olympic bronze medalist Kaori Sakamoto has announced in an interview that she is planning to retire after the Olympic season, and start a coaching career.
General News
- Weekend packages for the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in St. Louis, Missouri are now on sale. The weekend package includes the four championship-level competitions Friday, Jan. 9 through Saturday, Jan. 10, plus the Olympic team naming celebration on Sunday, Jan. 11 at Enterprise Center. Single-session tickets will go on sale in early September.
- U.S. Figure Skating announced a new partnership with Save the Duck, the globally recognized 100% animal-free fashion brand.
New Teams
- Nicole Kirsanov and Ethan (Kejin) Peng have teamed up and will skate for the U.S. on the junior level in ice dance.
- Megan Wessenberg and Denys Strekalin announced their new pairs partnership representing France.
- Giselle Graves and Bryan Pierro are announced as a new pairs team for Canada.
Show Announcements
- U.S. Figure Skating and the Skating Club of Boston will once again host The Summer Sizzler show this year. The show will be held on Thursday, August 14 and will include performances from world champions Ilia Malinin, Alysa Liu, and Madison Chock and Evan Bates, as well as a host of national medalists.
- The 53rd Annual An Evening With Champions show will be held September 12 and 13 at Harvard’s Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
- Sun Valley Summer Ice Shows will start the first week of July – with Alysa Liu as the headliner for July 2.
