We couldn’t put this podcast together without our team that helps us behind the scenes!

Melanie Heaney, Photographer

Since 2007, Melanie Heaney has traveled around the world, photographing skating. She joined the staff of Ice-Dance.com to develop and oversee the site’s Canadian beat. Since then, her photos have been published online by Golden Skate, the International Skating Union, U.S. Figure Skating, Skate Today, Figure Skaters Online, and in print media including U.S. Figure Skating’s SKATING Magazine. This year, she added This Week in Skating to that list.

In 2022, Melanie was credentialed as a photographer for XXIV Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China.

Melanie has served as U.S. Figure Skating’s official event photographer since the 2022-2023 season.

In addition, Melanie has started her own business, Melanie Heaney Photography, where she is the photographer for skating club competitions.

Matteo Morelli, Producer

Matteo’s passion for figure skating started in 2006 when he followed the Olympic Games in Turin on television, starting to cheer for Italy’s Carolina Kostner and discovering a lot more about this discipline that he immediately fell in love with. He attends competitions in Europe whenever he has a chance, with the dream of being able to go to the Winter Olympic Games one day.

Born in Italy, Matteo moved to Great Britain and has been calling London his home for almost a third of his life. He proudly works in healthcare management for the national healthcare service, and in his free time he enjoys exercising, going to classical music concerts and theatre plays, and of course following figure skating! He has been a journalist for icedance.com for some years, writing previews and recaps of events and interviewing ice dancers and their teams; he also collaborates with Figure Skaters Online, mainly covering European events and skaters.

In 2022, he became the producer for This Week in Skating, helping with gathering of news and events. He is also a frequent guest on the podcast, providing his insight on events he has covered in-person.
