General News
- January 29, 2026 marks one year since the crash of Flight 5342.
- University of Delaware Figure Skating Club will have a memorial set up in the Fred Rust Arena from January 27th until February 1.
- Skating clubs are participating in the “Connected at Heart” Origami Project, put together by U.S. Figure Skating and clubs across the country.
- Submit a recipe for Volume 3 of the Figure Skaters’ Favorites Cookbooks, is now being created to honor and remember those we have lost. All proceeds from Volume 3 will be donated to the U.S. Figure Skating National Development Team Legacy Fund to benefit the families of those lost in this tragic accident.
- Camilla and Pavel Kovalev will be competing in the pairs event in Milan. Uzbekistan returned their pairs allocation, which meant that France, which was the first alternate, claimed the spot.
As a result, Poland, who qualified 10th for the team event, will be allowed to send an ice dance team to round out their roster. South Korea, who was next in line (9th in the team event) could have sent a team instead, but they don’t have a pair to send. - Olympic teams confirmed for:

- Italy
- Switzerland
- Olivia Smart will be one of the flagbearers for Spain for the opening ceremony in Milan.
- Junhwan Cha will be one of the flagbearers for Korea for the opening ceremony in Milan.
- Ice dancers Sofiia Beznosikova and Max Leleu have changed country representation from Belgium to Azerbaijan.
- After his seventh place finish at Four Continents this past weekend, Tomoki Hiwatashi announced that he is retiring from competitive skating.
- Dr. Ronald B. Joseph, the 1964 U.S. Olympic bronze medalist in pairs with sister Vivian, passed away on Jan. 20, 2026, after more than a three-year battle with ALS. He was 81.
