Safe Sport Topics
- A Seoul, South Korea court granted an injunction sought by figure skater Haein Lee to pause a three-year ban issued by the Korea Skating Union over sexual harassment charges that were announced in June. Lee’s appeal to the Korea Sport and Olympic Committee had been rejected, so she took the matter to the Seoul court. The court sided with Lee, and she is now eligible to compete. She plans to enter a national competition scheduled to begin Nov. 28.
Grand Prix assignment updates:
- Philippines pair team Isabella Gamez/Aleksandr Korovin have been assigned to Cup of China. This is their first Grand Prix event as a team.
Skater Updates
- Kristi Yamaguchi cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony of the Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink in San Ramon, California last Friday. She will return to the rink on December 7 for the Barbie event where visitors will be able to meet Kristi and receive a signed Kristi Yamaguchi Barbie doll, and she will also hold a special skating clinic on December 23 where she will teach basic techniques.
- Georgian figure skater Alina Urushadze has announced her retirement from the sport via Instagram.

- Ilia Malinin and Nicholas Brooks will be starring in Arizona Ice Peoria’s Magic of Christmas show on December 14. Ticket information can be found on the rink’s Instagram announcement.

- Dana Sabatini-Speciale and Daniel Kaye announced they are a new senior ice dance team representing South Africa. They are training with Barbara Fusar Poli’s coaching team in Italy.
- British ice dancer Ashlie Slatter announced on Instagram that she and Atl Ongay-Perez are no longer skating together. They had been partnered for nine years and won the bronze medal at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics.
